Applying for Veterans Benefits
- New students must apply online at www.gibill.va.gov preferably 30 to 45 days in advance to the beginning of the semester. This will facilitate the timely receipt of benefits.
- A Letter of Eligibility will be mailed to the applicant from the Veterans Administration. A copy must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar.
All New and Returning Students:
To ensure the proper enrollment certification is reported to the Veterans Administration, all students must notify the Registrar's Office at La Roche College when they have registered for classes each semester, and when there are changes to any of the following:
- Enrollment Status: Including add/drop, withdraw or any schedule changes regardless if the total number of credits are altered.
- Medical withdraw or Leave of Absence
Veteran students receive priority registration each semester, registering on the first day along with seniors and graduate students, regardless of class.
La Roche College
The La Roche
College Veterans Organization was established in 2013 by two veteran students
who wanted to mentor and help other veterans bridge the gap between military
service and the academia. It was their belief that like-minded
individuals thrive better when there is a support system in place, inevitably
bonding them by mutual experiences. In 2015, the La Roche College Veterans Organization became an official chapter of Student Veterans of America (SVA), a national organization with local chapters at institutions in higher education.
The goals of
the La Roche College SVA are as follows:
construct a support system through mentoring
encourage camaraderie by creating an inclusive and supportive environment
receive and share information regarding academics and Veterans Administration
policies as disseminated by the School Certifying Official/Coordinator of
educate the La Roche College Community on veteran issues through the Veterans
Panel (annual event)
