How did you know LRU was the school for you?

La Roche met all the criteria I had set for a school. I wasn’t interested in attending a large university where I would be disconnected from faculty and most of the student population. At La Roche I know the faculty, and they know me. They take a genuine interest in my success. I know a large portion of the student population, and I’ve been welcomed here.

What do you like most about your major?

The professors in my major are exceptional mentors and instructors. They have impressive backgrounds and seemingly endless knowledge. They want nothing more than for their students to become successful, and they will go above and beyond to ensure this happens.

Tell us about your internship experience, and how LRU prepared you for it.

My internship last year at Allegheny County DHS was instrumental in my development as a student. I had the opportunity to apply some of the concepts I’ve learned at La Roche in a real-life, professional setting. I had exposure to complex concepts and scenarios I couldn’t have been aware of without hands-on experience.

I learned more as an intern than I could have hoped for, and professional experience has guided my coursework and career intentions.

Not only has my coursework at LRU exposed me to some of the concepts I applied at my internship, but I’ve learned to be productive and professional. Campus leadership opportunities have taught me time management, leadership, teamwork and a plethora of other invaluable skills.

What has been your experience at LRU—both inside and outside of the classroom?

I’ve grown significantly as a student and as an individual as a direct result of attending LRU. I’ve made countless friends, experienced things I couldn’t have imagined, and I’ve been enriched as a person. I find LRU inexhaustible in its ability to challenge students and help them grow.

Favorite class:

Constitutional Law with Professor William Crowley. Professor Crowley is an expert in his field, but where his true expertise lies is in his ability to challenge and push his students beyond their self-assessed capabilities. The class is wildly interesting, requires careful, percipient thought, and motivates students to work and study hard.
