Sister Kathleen Matz photoSister Kathleen Matz is the associate director of the office of evangelization and catechesis of the Archdiocese of Detroit.

As a representative and consultant to the Directors of Religious Education in the northwest region of the Archdiocese of Detroit, she oversees catechetical and ministerial formation and certification, sacramental preparation and adult faith formation. Sister Kathleen also provides ongoing information and support for catechetical leaders in the Archdiocese of Detroit.

As a professional mentor, she is involved with the Directors of Religious Education, youth ministers, liturgical musicians and Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) Facilitators and Christian Service Coordinators. She also presents catechetical topics at Sacred Heart Major Seminary and in Archdiocese of Detroit parishes. A liturgical dancer, Sister Kathleen coordinates groups of local praise dancers.

“My liturgical worship experience at La Roche College was very significant to me,” she explained. “Liturgies at the dorm were vibrant and provided an opportunity for quality worship and community building. The singing was dynamic, and the structure of reflection evenings generated faith sharing, communal prayer and gospel witness.”
