Director of Financial Aid

La Roche University is currently seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Director of Financial Aid.  As a member of the Enrollment Management Division, the Director of Financial Aid is responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance the delivery of financial aid programs and services, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and administering all financial aid programs offered at the University.

This position reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and is eligible for corresponding full-time benefits.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the financial aid office, including goal setting, budget management and resource allocation
  • Oversee the administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Collaborate with university leadership, including the Vice President for Enrollment Management and the CFO, to develop and implement financial aid strategies that support enrollment goals and student retention efforts across all student populations
  • Collect and analyze data and trends to assess the effectiveness of financial aid programs and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to streamline financial aid processes and improve service delivery to students and families
  • Develop financial aid budgets and monitor spending for all financial aid programs and the department operating budget 
  • Coordinate financial aid activities with admissions, registration, and student accounts
  • Administer the university tuition remission program and all tuition exchange programs for employees and their families
  • Review all financial aid cases and appeals, including satisfactory academic progress appeals, ensuring fair and consistent decisions while prioritizing student needs and institutional goals
  • Conduct various financial aid information sessions for student/parent groups, including Open Houses and Welcome Day sessions
  • Prepare annual FISAP, IPEDS, Common Data Set, NCAA and other required reports
  • Develop annual student aid budgets and packaging strategies
  • Supervise staff, monitor performance and conduct required reviews
  • Stay current on changes in federal and state financial aid regulations, policies and best practices and communicate updates to staff and stakeholders as needed
  • Serve on university committees as requested

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in financial aid administration, with at least two years supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs, regulations and compliance requirements, including Title IV regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders and build positive relationships.
  • Proficiency using financial aid management software, databases and Microsoft Office Suite.  
  • Experience with Jenzabar One and Jenzabar Financial Aid highly desirable.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for events and deadlines.
