La Roche University does not require students to carry health insurance and does not offer a University-sponsored student health insurance plan. However, students are strongly encouraged to maintain health insurance coverage to help manage the costs of unexpected illness, injury, or other health care needs.

Students are responsible for obtaining and maintaining their own health insurance coverage. Insurance coverage requirements may apply to students participating in intercollegiate athletics or certain academic or clinical programs.

Pennsylvania residents can compare health insurance plans, explore available financial assistance, and enroll in health and dental coverage through Pennie. Pennie is Pennsylvania’s official health insurance marketplace.

International Students

International students are strongly encouraged to maintain health insurance while enrolled at La Roche University. Health care in the United States can be expensive, particularly for emergency care, hospital services, specialty care, and services received without insurance coverage.

Students should carefully review the terms of any health insurance plan, as coverage may vary for services such as prescription medications, dental care, vision care, and mental health services. Health Services

La Roche University Health Services are provided through Steel City Internal Medicine Walk-In Clinic, located in the professional building at UPMC Passavant. This service is available at no charge for non-emergency routine medical care for La Roche students.

Health insurance is not required to use Health Services, but it is strongly recommended.

If additional procedures, testing, medications, or other services are needed, students are responsible for any associated costs. These charges may be billed to a student’s personal health insurance or paid directly to the provider.
