About Commencement

La Roche will hold two ceremonies on Saturday, May 8 based on the following academic divisions:

Science, Nursing and Education: 10 a.m.
Management, Humanities and Design: 2 p.m.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, each graduate is limited to two guests, and seats for students will be assigned. Therefore, you and your guests must attend the ceremony for which you are scheduled.

Arrival – Students

Students attending the 10 a.m. ceremony must arrive at the COVID screening stations behind the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center, in the lower-level parking lot no later than 9 a.m.

Students attending the 2 p.m. ceremony must arrive no later than 1 p.m.
After screening students will stop at the check-in tables to sign in, receive their name cards and seating assignments. Please take your name card with you to the stage.

Arrival - Guests

Guests to the 10 a.m. ceremony must arrive at the COVID screening stations outside the main entrance to the Kerr Fitness Center no later than 9:15 a.m.

After screening guests will enter the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center and be escorted to the seating area. All guests must be seated no later than 9:45 a.m.

Guests to the 2 p.m. ceremony must arrive at the COVID screening stations outside the main entrance to the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center no later than 1:15 p.m.

After screening guests will enter the fitness center and be escorted to the seating area. All guests must be seated no later 1:45 p.m.

Live–Streaming

Both ceremonies will be live-streamed at laroche.edu. Please share this link with family and friends who are unable to attend.

Walking Across the Stage

Due to social distancing guidelines and COVID-19 policies, there will be no hand-shaking or other physical contact on stage.

Exiting the Venue

At the conclusion of the commencement ceremonies, students should remain seated until the platform party has exited the stage. Students will process through the lower-level doors. Once you have exited the building, please do not congregate near the building or doors. 

Changes

The University will communicate any changes to commencement exercises using the La Roche public website.

Commencement Program

Names of graduating students will be published in the graduation program and any official press release unless the student has a submitted a FERPA form to the Registrar's Office to restrict release of directory information.

Students must ensure that their intention to release or restrict this information is received in the Registrar's Office by March 1. If you graduate with a FERPA hold in place, La Roche will be unable to provide verification of your enrollment or degree to future employers or others.

Diplomas

Your name on your diploma will appear exactly as it does on your graduation application. Diplomas are not distributed at commencement, but will be mailed to the address listed on your graduation application approximately four weeks following the final spring grade deadline.

Any student with financial holds will have their diploma held in the Registrar's Office until all financial obligations are met.

Only your degree will appear on your diploma. Your minor or major concentration will not appear.

Latin Honors

Latin honors are awarded to Baccalaureate degree candidates who meet cumulative grade point average requirements and a minimum of 45 credits in residence at La Roche University. The required GPA's follow:

  • Summa Cum Laude: 3.90 - 4.00
  • Magna Cum Laude: 3.75 - 3.89
  • Cum Laude: 3.50 - 3.74
