- Withdraw from friends, classes or usual activities
- Show major changes in mood, sleep, behavior or substance use
- Give away important belongings or say goodbye in unusual ways
- Engage in self-harm or reckless behavior
- Talk about having no reason to live
If you notice these signs, take them seriously and connect the student with help.

Incoming students are provided information about national, state, and local crisis resources. Students receive mental health and crisis contact information at least twice per calendar year by email or other University communication.
Post-Intervention Plan
La Roche University maintains a coordinated response plan following the death of a student, including death by suicide. The response may involve Counseling & Health Services, Student Life, Public Safety, Residence Life, Academic Affairs, University Communications, campus ministry, and other appropriate campus partners.
The goals of the post-intervention response are to support affected students and employees, provide accurate and compassionate communication, reduce risk for additional harm, connect the campus community with support, and respect the privacy and dignity of the student and family.
