The Office of Career Development offers online resources, activities and programming to ensure that you develop into the best professional you can be and are able to effectively showcase your relevant experiences and employer-preferred competencies.

Career advising sessions

Career advising sessions give you the opportunity to seek specific assistance to map out your personal career plan, engage in assignments geared to teach you how to build your professional brand and articulate your career-readiness attributes. Schedule your personal advising session using Starfish.

Workshops and classroom presentations

These presentations provide the formal instruction that teaches you to leverage your unique experiences and major content knowledge to benefit your professional growth and advancement. Through collaborative efforts La Roche faculty and the Office of Career Development bring professional development activities into the classroom while supporting co-curricular experiential learning like internships and project-based assignments.

Events and Programs

We offer special events and programs throughout the academic year to provide you the opportunity to connect with professionals, learn about internships and discover employment opportunities. Given the specific career-oriented Consortia partnerships supported by the Office of Career Development, you have the opportunity to participate in the following: 
  • Collegiate WestPACS, Job, Internship and Graduate School Fair, occurring in the fall and spring, offers an opportunity to interact with over 100 employers and graduate schools that recruit college students for internships, entry-level employment and advanced degree programs.
  • Major-specific interview events include the Accounting Consortium Interview Day, the Science, Math & Technology Interview Day and the Pittsburgh Education Recruitment Consortium (PERC) Job Fair.
  • Pittsburgh North Chamber student memberships are available to connect you with local employers and take advantage of networking and social opportunities with other young professionals.

Employer visits and recruiting interviews

These events allow you to practice your networking skills and be considered for internships and employment. Annual events include:  
  • Employer Connections: Offered in the fall and spring, this mini-job fair hosts more than 15 employers on campus.
  • Professional Mixer & Etiquette Dinner: This reception and dinner allows you to practice networking skills and professional etiquette with La Roche alumni and employer representatives.
  • Lobby tables: These local employer information sessions connect you to internship and employment opportunities.
  • Major-specific employer presentations and panel discussions: These collaborative programs are supported by student organizations, faculty and the Office of Career Development.
