JED Campus
In 2021 La Roche University began its four-year partnership with the JED Foundation, a nationally recognized nonprofit, to improve campus mental health resources.
JED Campus, a signature program of The JED Foundation, offers La Roche customized support to help build upon existing student mental health, substance use and suicide prevention efforts. The partnership kicked off with the administration of the Healthy Minds Survey, a virtual meeting with the JED Campus Advisor and the establishment of a JED Campus Team.
The Healthy Minds Survey gives students the opportunity to weigh in on their mental health, service utilization on campus and related issues. Using the survey data, the University’s JED Campus Advisor issued comments regarding strength areas and areas to consider on each section of the eight-domain assessment.
The JED Campus Team, consisting of representatives from different campus offices and faculty members, meets regularly to address each domain and make improvements.
The eight-domain assessment includes:
- Strategic planning
- Developing and supporting life skills
- Social connectedness
- Identifying students at risk
- Increasing help-seeking behavior
- Providing mental health services
- Substance misuse
- Crisis management
- Means restriction and environmental safety
Most recently the University appointed a local psychiatrist to meet with students on campus at no cost.
