Commencement
Baccalaureate Prayer Service
Graduates, families and friends gather the day before commencement for a special prayer service celebrating the University motto To Light Through Love. The event includes a traditional candle lighting ceremony as part of a closing prayer and final blessing. This service will be held in the Mother House Chapel. Tickets are not needed.
Graduates’ Awards
All graduates, families, friends, faculty, trustees and staff members are invited to celebrate and pay tribute to our graduates’ achievements at the Graduates’ Awards ceremony held in the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center. Tickets are not needed.
Commencement Program
Names of graduating students will be published in the graduation program and any official press release unless the student has a submitted a FERPA form to the Registrar's Office to restrict release of directory information.
Students must ensure that their intention to release or restrict this information is received in the Registrar's Office by March 1. If you graduate with a FERPA hold in place, La Roche will be unable to provide verification of your enrollment or degree to future employers or others.
Diplomas
Your name on your diploma will appear exactly as it does on your graduation application. Diplomas are not distributed at commencement but will be mailed to the address listed on your graduation application approximately four weeks following the final spring grade deadline.
Any student with financial holds will have their diploma held in the Registrar's Office until all financial obligations are met.
Only your degree will appear on your diploma. Your minor or major concentration will not appear.
Latin Honors
Latin honors are awarded to Baccalaureate degree candidates who meet cumulative grade point average requirements and a minimum of 45 graded credits in residence at La Roche University. The required GPA's follow:
- Summa Cum Laude: 3.90 - 4.00
- Magna Cum Laude: 3.75 - 3.89
- Cum Laude: 3.50 - 3.74
