Clinical Coordinator – Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP)

La Roche University invites applications for the position of Clinical Coordinator, Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP). The full-time Clinical Coordinator is a 12-month faculty position responsible for managing the clinical coordination of students enrolled in the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) Program. This position collaborates with Program Administration, Clinical Sites, and Clinical Faculty to ensure Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs) acquire the necessary clinical experience as required by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA).

GENERAL DUTIES:

Academic and Clinical Oversight:

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of academic and clinical requirements for students as outlined in the COA’s Standards and Guidelines
  • Ensure clinical sites and clinical faculty maintain adherence to COA accreditation standards
  • Monitor and maintain student confidentiality in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Provide clinical instruction and remediation to students in accordance with COA Standards and Guidelines

Program Management:

  • Participate in the overall organization, implementation, and evaluation of the DNAP Program
  • Coordinate comprehensive orientation for students at clinical sites
  • Assign and monitor student schedules, daily assignments, and attendance
  • Review and analyze all student clinical evaluations, discussing pertinent deficiencies with Program Administrators
  • Serve on program Admission, Promotions, and Graduation Committees

Clinical Site Management:

  • Conduct annual clinical site visits in coordination with the Director of DNAP Program and document meeting minutes
  • Address inquiries and concerns from clinical sites in a timely and professional manner
  • Monitor clinical faculty compliance in completing daily and end-of-rotation clinical evaluations

Faculty Responsibilities:

  • Teach a minimum of two courses per year, totaling 6 credits
  • Chair scholarly projects as assigned by Director of DNAP program
  • Assist in simulation laboratory activities and simulations
  • Provide comprehensive input on semester evaluations of students to Program Administrators

Professional Development:

  • Complete annual self-evaluation and institutional evaluation forms
  • Respond constructively to evaluations from program director, peers, and students
  • Maintain current knowledge of anesthesia practices and educational methodologies

FUNCTIONAL AREAS MANAGED:

  • Clinical coordination and student placement
  • Clinical site relationships and compliance
  • Student clinical evaluation and remediation processes

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited program of nurse anesthesia with current certification to practice nurse anesthesia by the National Board on Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
  • Doctoral degree required
  • Must not simultaneously hold a faculty position in another Nurse Anesthesia Program
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
  1. Comprehensive knowledge of anesthesia techniques, procedures, and patient management
  2. Thorough understanding of anesthesia equipment theory, principles, and educational applications
  3. Current adherence to NBCRNA recertification requirements
  4. Active participation in continuing education programs specific to clinical coordination
  5. Regular review of current anesthesiology publications and research
  6. Proficiency with contemporary anesthesia techniques and evidence-based practices
  7. Adherence to American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) standards
  8. Active membership in the AANA
  • Experience serving as chair or committee member for scholarly projects preferred
  • Experience with simulation laboratory equipment and educational technologies- preferred

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and educational management systems
  • Ability to travel to clinical sites as required
  • Commitment to maintaining professional development and staying current with industry standards
