Public Safety
At La Roche University we are committed to making sure you feel safe on campus.
Here are a few ways we keep our campus secure:
- Each residence hall has electronic keycard access at the entrance, and it is in operation 24 hours a day. That means only students, staff and faculty can access the halls with an authorized keycard.
- The University has nearly 30 security phones on campus. Anyone who picks up the receiver is automatically connected to the public safety officer on duty on campus.
- Public Safety officers are available to assist you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They can also provide a security escort for you (upon request).
- La Roche offers programs during orientation for students on basic personal safety techniques, including locking your doors, reporting suspicious activity, remaining with guests at all times and acquiring guest passes for overnight guests.
- The University uses a mass emergency notification system that sends instant alerts to students, faculty and staff via text messaging and email in case of an emergency. All students are urged to subscribe to this free service.
Annual Safety Report
By publishing an annual safety report, the Office of Public Safety demonstrates its compliance with the requirements of the Pennsylvania College and University Security Information Act and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.
The manual provides relevant statistics, information on university policies, regulations regarding campus security and safety tips.

Parking
The University provides free parking on a first-come, first-served basis for all commuter students and faculty/staff. There is a $100 fee for all resident students wishing to park on campus. Everyone must register all motor vehicles operated on campus. Parking lots are designated for faculty/staff, commuter and resident students. All faculty/staff and students are expected to abide by the motor vehicle regulations designed by the Public Safety Department.
Student IDs
Currently enrolled La Roche students are issued a student identification card, referred to as the Redhawk card. The Redhawk card is the only identification recognized by the University for services and privileges such as borrowing library books, cashing checks, using campus facilities and being admitted to University events.
Students are required to present a Redhawk card or other appropriate forms of identification upon the request of a University official.
