Student Eligibility
Please note: In addition to the requirements listed below, all students must verify whether they need to obtain a tourist visa to participate in a Study Abroad+Study USA course. Participants are responsible for all costs associated with obtaining a visa.
International students must meet with Director of International Student Services Dr. Natasha Garrett for information regarding visas and I-20 signatures. Contact Dr. Garrett at natasha.garrett@laroche.edu or 412-536-1296. Please contact Dr. Garrett early in the application process to ensure there is enough time to receive the proper paperwork in order to travel.
Traditional Students
Full-time traditional freshmen who are pursuing a bachelor's degree program at La Roche must meet the following criteria:
- Earned 45 La Roche credits
- A GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Declare a major
- Maintain full-time status
- Students must be in good standing with Residence Life and Student Accounts
Transfer Students
Full-time transfer students who enroll at La Roche with 79 credits or less are eligible to participate in Study Abroad+Study USA once they meet these requirements:
- Earn 30 La Roche credits
- A GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Maintain full-time status
- Students must be in good standing with Residence Life and Student Accounts
- Pay an additional fee
For International Students
International students are responsible for obtaining a visa, having their I-20 signed and speaking with the Director of International Student Services.
Non-La Roche Students
Students who don't attend La Roche but are interested in a travel course must
submit an application to the Office of Academic Affairs.
These students are responsible for all costs associated with the travel course. The Office of Academic Affairs, along with the faculty member offering the travel course, determines the approval to participate.
Scholar and SCIP Students
Participants in the Scholar Program or the Scholar Credit Initiative Program (SCIP) who earn up to 15 La Roche credits are eligible to participate in Study Abroad+Study USA a semester early.
