Military and Veterans

Application Process
*Preferably at least 30 days prior to the first day of the semester you wish to start. You’ll receive an automated email after you submit your certification.
Credit for Military Experience
We recognize that your military training may relate to coursework and offer credit for military experience. Earn transfer credit through:
- College-level Studies
- Credit for Life Experience
If your past experience relates to courses offered at LRU, we allow you to apply 30 credits of prior learning toward your degree. Credits may not be used toward the last 30 credits of your college residency. - Active Military Service
Submit a copy of your DD214 or an AART, SMART or CCAF transcript.
Call 412-536-1260 for more information and to request an unofficial evaluation of transferable credits. You’ll receive an official credit evaluation within one month of submitting a complete application and all official transcripts.
If You Are Deployed
If you are called or ordered to active duty (other than active duty for training), LRU grants you a Military Leave of Absence from your education.
Upon release from military duty, you’re entitled to restore the educational status you attained prior to your deployment, including academic credits earned, scholarships or grants, and paid tuition and fees.
La Roche will refund tuition or fees paid, or credit the tuition and fees to the next semester, after your Military Leave of Absence ends.
Steps to Take if You Are Called to Active Duty
- Submit a Leave of Absence form to the Registrar.
- Contact the Veterans Certifying Official at 412-536-1083 to notify them of your deployment.
- Provide your deployment orders to the Registrar to initiate a tuition appeal. Drop off orders in person or fax: 412-536-1075. When LRU receives your orders, your tuition assessment will be set to $0.
