History

The impetus for the Introcaso Center for Lifelong Learning began nearly a decade ago, when Sister Candace Introcaso, CDP, Ph.D., La Roche University’s seventh president, thought of ways to spread LRU’s mission throughout the community.

In 2017 President Introcaso spent her sabbatical researching and investigating lifelong learning communities tied to universities. Energized by her research and the need for this type of program at LRU for the community, she formed and led a committee of staff, faculty, board and community members.

In 2021 La Roche launched the Center for Lifelong Learning, fulfilling the vision President Introcaso had for creating an intergenerational community on campus.

President Introcaso entered eternal life on May 22, 2023. At a memorial Mass honoring her legacy, the Center for Lifelong Learning was renamed in her honor. It is now known as the Introcaso Center for Lifelong Learning and has more than 400 members.
