La Roche University and CCBC Introduce Simplified, Cost-Saving Transfer Process

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 11, 2024 – A new articulation agreement between La Roche University and Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) offers transfer students a streamlined and cost-effective path toward a bachelor’s degree.

The new agreement, effective immediately, has several key advantages for CCBC students who transfer to La Roche with an associate degree:
  • 40 percent tuition discount: CCBC graduates will pay $500 per credit, significantly lowering the cost of completing a bachelor’s degree.
  • Waived academic core: Students with an associate degree from CCBC will be exempt from general education courses at La Roche, which enables them to graduate faster.
  • Direct admission: Students with an associate degree from CCBC will receive direct admission to La Roche’s undergraduate programs, with junior status granted to those transferring 60 credits or more.
“Streamlining the transfer process and lowering costs for CCBC students is just the initial phase of this significant partnership,” said Howard Ishiyama, Ph.D., La Roche provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs. “We are equally thrilled to be developing comprehensive pathways that will allow students to move seamlessly from high school to earning an associate’s degree at CCBC, and then progress to a bachelor’s or even a master’s degree at La Roche.”

The expanded agreement allows CCBC students to transfer up to 90 credits toward a wide range of La Roche’s undergraduate programs, including Cybersecurity & Forensics, Nursing, Psychology, Communications, Media & Technology, and Education.

La Roche accepts credit for life experience, including ones earned at CCBC through standardized examinations, military coursework and portfolio credit. Individual credits are eligible for transfer with an official transcript from the original credit-granting institution and will be evaluated by La Roche on a per-course basis.

“Community College of Beaver County and La Roche University have joined together to create regional, affordable, quality educational pathways in STEM, Health Sciences and Liberal Studies,” said Shelly Moore, vice president of Academic Affairs and provost at CCBC. “We’re excited for the future of this partnership and the ways in which it will ensure more students reach their goals and finish stronger.”
