Assistant Professor – Graphic Design
The Department of Graphic Design at La Roche University is currently seeking candidates with a master’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or a related field for the full-time position of Assistant Professor of Graphic Design. This position is to begin in Fall 2026 and will teach on-site at La Roche’s campus in the North Hills of Pittsburgh.

Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will be a design educator with a well-rounded skill set and experience teaching in multiple areas of Graphic Design curriculum. They should bring a range of professional skills in such areas as: typography, layout, image-making, conceptualization, branding, and human/user centered design practices.
Applicants should be passionate in their areas of research/experience and be willing to build upon their strengths and identify opportunities to keep pace with curriculum changes and the future of the design profession.
Our department mission supports hiring candidates who are versed in the application of the elements and principles of design, and those who will encourage intellectual curiosity, interdisciplinary collaboration, conceptual thinking, social awareness, and individual creativity within our student body.
Position Requirements/Preferences:
- Master’s degree required in Graphic Design, Visual Communication Design, or related field
- Strong portfolio/record of work as a professional designer
- 3-5 years of teaching experience, preferred
- Familiar with user experience design, desired
- Experience with multimedia and motion graphics, desired
Faculty Responsibilities:
- Full teaching load of (12 credits + 3 advising) fall and spring semesters.
- Fulfill all university faculty handbook requirements, including but not limited to: advising, accreditation activities, departmental and division events, student reviews, curriculum development, committee work, and professional development.
- Participate in professional events and organizations.
