Groundskeeper

La Roche University invites applications for a Groundskeeper position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist Athletics with field requirements and scheduled events
  • Maintain Campus Wide grounds in summer: mow, trim, weed control, plant, prune, etc.
  • Maintain Campus Wide grounds in winter: snow & ice removal from parking lots, driveway, and sidewalks by using shovels, spreaders, dump truck & plow.
  • Perform other seasonal grounds work such as raking leaves, sweeping, protecting plants, and involvement in light up night.
  • Pick up trash around buildings and resident halls and empties trash receptacles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on tools, lawn equipment and Facilities fleet vehicles.
  • Maintains Athletic fields, planting and over seeding and artificial turf maintenance.
  • Carry out other facility related tasks such as deliveries, set-ups/teardowns for special events.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work in noisy, hot, and cold climates
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
  • Knowledge of lawn equipment (trimmers, mowers, blowers, etc.) and snow removal equipment (plow truck, blowers, etc.)
  • Ability to operate maintenance, grounds, and custodial equipment such as: hand tools, power tools, cleaningi equipment, etc.
  • Understand and comply with MSDS and HAZCOM procedures and policies as part of La Roche University’s OSHA compliance program
  • Understand and comply with OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogen Standard
  • Understand and comply with OSHA requirements for personal protective equipment (PPE)

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, walking, kneeling, stooping over 75% of the work day
  • Some sitting required for internal office work
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
