La Roche University is currently seeking candidates for the position of Adjunct Professor – Speech, to teach Oral Communication to undergraduate students as required in the Core Curriculum.
This is an adjunct position to teach one in-person section of Oral Communication on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00- 9:20am this spring semester (January 12- May 15, 2026). Two sections of the course will be potentially available each semester, starting in the fall 2026 semester.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and teach one section of Oral Communication this spring; potentially two sections starting in August 2026.
- Use a variety of pedagogical techniques to help students develop a sense of self-confidence in everyday speaking situations as well as formal presentations; demonstrate an ability to discuss and present ideas in a professional manner without personal bias or stereotyping; develop a clear understanding of the dynamics of a civil debate; identify the various aspects of nonverbal communication; and understand the value of leading or participating on a team.
- Provide timely and thoughtful feedback on student homework and presentations.
- Provide end-of-term course assessment materials for Core Curriculum.
Education/Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching college-level Oral Communication/ Speech or related courses required;
- Experience with and interest in teaching a wide array of undergraduate students, including underprepared students, students with learning differences, and those who speak English as a second language;
- Master’s degree in English, Communication, or related field required;
- Willingness to use the Canvas LMS system to supplement teaching and enhance the student learning experience required.
