As you and your family work through the process of financing your education, La Roche University is here to guide you every step of the way.

An Education From La Roche Pays Off

Whether you’re a first-generation student or a working adult who is returning to school, we’re here to help you accomplish this life goal. La Roche offers:

  • $11 million in merit scholarships per year.
  • Need-based financial aid programs, including annual and endowed scholarships, grants, loans, work-study employment and veterans benefits.
  • A financial aid office willing to help you navigate the process.
  • The same tuition rate for out-of-state students.

In addition to our generous scholarships, other types of aid and resources include employer tuition discounts and a SAGE Tuition Rewards program. No matter your background, you’ll find some form of financial assistance at La Roche.

Helpful Financial Aid Terminology

As you begin the financial aid process, you’ll want to get familiar with these terms:

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
FAFSA is the form used by the U.S. Department of Education to determine your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) by conducting a need analysis based on financial information, such as income, assets and other household information.

FAFSA is the application used by nearly all colleges and universities to determine eligibility for federal, state and college-sponsored financial aid, including grants, educational loans and work-study programs.

The Student Aid Index (SAI)
This will replace the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) on the FAFSA form. Students and families will see a different measure of their ability to pay for college and experience a change in the methodology used to determine aid.

Cost of Attendance
This figure is made up of direct costs and indirect costs.

  • Direct costs are the charges that the college will bill you each semester that you are enrolled. These include tuition, fees, and housing and food (if you live in one of the residence halls).
  • Indirect costs are expenses that you will incur in addition to direct costs, including books and supplies, transportation costs, personal expenses and a living allowance.

Financial Need
This is the difference between the Cost of Attendance and your SAI. Your SAI is subtracted from the Cost of Attendance, and the result is your financial need.
