PITTSBURGH, Nov. 18, 2025 – La Roche University is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Spanish Institute for Global Education (SIGE) in Seville, Spain, establishing a strategic partnership to advance international learning, cultural exchange, and professional development opportunities for students and faculty from both institutions.
The agreement was formally signed by Dr. Christina A. Clark, Ph.D., President of La Roche University, and representatives of SIGE, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering global engagement, immersive learning experiences, and cross-cultural understanding.
Under the terms of the MOU, La Roche University and SIGE will collaborate on a range of initiatives, including semester- and summer-long study abroad programs, faculty-led programs, Spanish language and culture courses, internships, and service-learning experiences. SIGE will serve as the primary coordinator and liaison, providing access to its three affiliated partner universities in Seville—the University of Seville, Pablo de Olavide University, and EUSA Centro Universitario—and offering comprehensive support services including orientation, housing arrangements, health coverage, academic advising, and 24/7 assistance. These programs are designed to ensure fully integrated academic and cultural experiences that build intercultural competencies, global perspectives, and professional skills.
Founded in 1982, SIGE is a leading institution dedicated to facilitating international education and cultural exchange. The institute has developed a structured framework of academic, cultural, and professional programs that support international students and faculty, offering immersive learning experiences while fostering global engagement and collaboration.
“We are proud to partner with the Spanish Institute for Global Education, an organization known for its commitment to high-quality academic programs and student support,” said Dr. Christina Clark, Ph.D., President of La Roche University. “This partnership creates meaningful international experiences for our students, allowing them to engage with Spanish language, culture, and professional environments in ways that enhance both personal and academic growth.”
In addition to student and faculty exchanges, the MOU lays the groundwork for collaborative research projects, joint academic workshops, and experiential learning opportunities. Faculty and staff at La Roche University and SIGE’s partner universities will have access to professional development, teaching exchanges, and research collaboration, strengthening academic networks and fostering innovation in teaching and scholarship.
Through this partnership, La Roche University reaffirms its commitment to preparing students for success in a globally connected world. By participating in immersive programs facilitated by SIGE, students and faculty will gain enhanced professional skills, intercultural understanding, and lifelong connections, while strengthening collaborative bonds between the United States and Spain.
