Coordinator of International Student Services
La Roche University seeks an experienced and mission-driven candidate to serve as the Coordinator of International Student Services. The position is full-time and provides comprehensive support and guidance to La Roche University’s international student population. The Coordinator assists students with immigration requirements, cultural and academic adjustment, orientation, campus engagement, and access to University resources while promoting student success and retention. The Coordinator also serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and works closely with the University’s Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) to support compliance with federal regulations governing F-1 international students and maintain accurate student records in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). The position reports directly to the Vice President for Global Education.

GENERAL DUTIES
International Student Services
- Serve as a primary point of contact and resource for international students regarding University procedures, campus resources, immigration requirements, and adjustment to life and study in the United States.
- Coordinate international student arrival, check-in, orientation, and other transition activities.
- Maintain regular communication with international students regarding important deadlines, immigration requirements, University policies, programs, and available resources.
- Assist international students in navigating University and community resources, including housing, transportation, health services, banking, Social Security procedures, and other practical matters.
- Identify students who may need additional academic, financial, personal, or adjustment support and connect them with appropriate University resources.
- Provide transportation support for international students as needed, including driving a University vehicle for airport arrivals and departures, orientation activities, local appointments, shopping trips, cultural activities, and other international student programs and services.
DSO & Immigration Compliance
- Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and perform assigned responsibilities in accordance with federal regulations and Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) requirements.
- Work closely with the University’s PDSO to support institutional compliance with federal regulations governing F-1 international students.
- Maintain accurate and timely international student records in SEVIS and facilitate the preparation, issuance, and maintenance of Forms I-20 and related documentation.
- Advise F-1 students regarding maintenance of status, enrollment requirements, travel, program extensions, transfers, reduced course loads, changes of program or education level, and other immigration-related matters.
- Advise and assist eligible students with Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), STEM OPT, and other F-1 employment-related processes.
- Assist with semester SEVIS registration, monitor student enrollment and immigration status, and maintain appropriate immigration records.
- Stay current with federal regulations, SEVP guidance, and SEVIS updates related to F-1 international students.
Student Engagement & Success
- Develop and coordinate programs, workshops, and activities that promote international student engagement, retention, intercultural learning, and a sense of belonging.
- Provide pre-arrival and ongoing information to help international students successfully transition to La Roche University and life in the United States.
- Conduct outreach to international students experiencing academic, financial, enrollment, or adjustment challenges and connect them with appropriate campus resources.
- Support cultural, educational, and social programs that encourage interaction among international students, domestic students, faculty, and staff.
Collaboration & Campus Partnerships
- Collaborate with International Admissions to support the transition of newly admitted international students from admission through arrival and enrollment.
- Work with the Registrar, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Student Accounts, Residence Life, Career Development, and other University offices to address international student needs and matters affecting F-1 status.
- Provide information and guidance to faculty and staff regarding international student requirements and resources as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and confidential international student records and assist with institutional and governmental reporting as needed.
- Participate in Global Education programs, meetings, events, and University initiatives.
- Work closely with academic leadership, faculty, international student services, student success teams, and administrative units to support a seamless enrollment experience.
- Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on global education systems, market trends, and best practices in international admissions.
Staff Supervision & Professional Engagement
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate the International Admissions and Student Services staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
- Coordinate professional development opportunities to ensure the team remains current with NAFSA, AIRC, ICEF, and other industry standards.
- Act as an ambassador for the University and uphold its mission, values, and commitment to global diversity.
Additional Duties
- Perform responsibilities as assigned to support international student success, Global Education initiatives, enrollment goals, and institutional priorities.
- Ensure timely and accurate issuance of admissions decisions and communication to students, families, advisors, and global partners.
MINIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience working with international students, college students, or in a higher education environment.
- Strong interest in international education and international student services.
- Ability to learn, interpret, and apply F-1 student regulations, SEVP requirements, and University policies and procedures.
- Strong organizational, administrative, interpersonal, and cross-cultural communication skills with careful attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and collaborate with colleagues across the University.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn SEVIS, student information systems, and other administrative technologies.
- Eligibility to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) under federal requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet University requirements for operating University vehicles.
- Commitment to the values of Catholic higher education and a strong appreciation for diversity and global engagement.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position may require stationary work in an office environment, walking short and long distances on campus, participation in student programs and activities, and the ability to perform fine motor tasks, such as typing. The position may also require driving a University vehicle to provide transportation for international students and University-sponsored activities. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support international student programs, orientation, student arrivals and departures, and other University activities.
