Assistant Professor – Finance

La Roche University is seeking a full-time faculty member in the Accounting & Finance Department. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in Finance and experience in teaching undergraduate Finance courses, with the ability to contribute to introductory Accounting and Management courses as needed.

The successful candidate should possess broad knowledge across key areas of finance, including financial analysis and decision-making, discounted cash flow and valuation techniques, risk and return analysis, investment analysis and portfolio management, commercial banking, risk management and insurance, international finance, and related areas. Experience applying financial concepts to real-world business and investment decisions, as well as incorporating analytical tools, current financial practices, and experiential learning into the classroom, is highly desirable.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Finance and, as needed, introductory courses in Accounting and Management.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction that integrates current financial practices, analytical tools, and real-world applications.
  • Advise and mentor students, including supporting academic planning, career development, and professional preparation.
  • Participate on university committees and contribute to shared governance and institutional initiatives.
  • Engage in appropriate professional development and scholarly or applied activities within the field of Finance.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement of programs in Accounting and Finance.
  • Participate in departmental activities and other faculty responsibilities consistent with the mission of the University.
  • Prepare course materials, including syllabi, assignments, examinations, and other instructional resources.
  • Evaluate and grade student work and maintain required academic records, grades, and course documentation.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
  • Participate in classroom and online discussions and utilize appropriate educational technologies to support teaching, advising, and assessment.
  • Keep abreast of developments in Finance and related fields through current literature, professional organizations, conferences, and other appropriate activities.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field is preferred.
  • A master’s degree in finance, Business, or a related discipline, combined with relevant professional certifications and substantial industry experience in finance, will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in areas such as financial management, investments, international finance, financial analysis, valuation, risk management, banking, and related areas are highly desirable.
  • Evidence of significant professional work experience in the field is valued.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to teaching, student advising, professional development, and service to the University.
